Students Transitioning Before Graduation
CVR's Autism Academy is a vocational skills building program that focuses on strengthening each person's skills to help them reach their vocational potential. The staff will work with the student's IEP goals and the vocational goals set up by the school district. The student will have a schedule of vocational skills building classes throughout their day at CVR's Autism Academy.
Some of these skills classes include:
- Social Skills
- Daily Living
- Self Help Skills
- Community Resources
We will work to build each student's independence and growth in various areas so they can transfer these skills into their home environment and community.
CVR's Autism Academy follows a Functional Curriculum Series by Provincial Outreach Program for Autism and Related Disorders and also the 21st Century Life and Careers Standard Core Curriculum for the State of New Jersey.
Upon entering the CVR's Autism Academy, the Staff will provide a Goal Analysis that will be taken one month after entering the program. The Analysis scores the student on whether skill has been newly introduced or requires prompting majority of the time, skill is emerging or completed with minor prompts, skill is close to mastery, or skill is mastered across multiple settings and people. The Analysis will then be given every three months or before IEP meeting to review.
